It's so easy to get caught up in our daily routines that we miss the small things. The reason I love Saturdays so much is that I know I've got the whole weekend ahead of me. I don't have to think about schedules and I can do pretty much whatever I want with my time. This is why most of my pictures are taken on Saturdays. I can slow down and look for things that inspire me to photograph them. Like this flower. I love flowers, they make me smile. It's in an unobtrusive spot that would be easy to just walk right by without noticing it. Saturdays are my reason to "stop and smell the roses".

Yes, it does get cold in the Bahamas sometimes. The past few days have been cold and grey and rainy. So this is to remind everyone of warm sunny afternoons at the beach.
This picture was a little hard to get. I wanted to get more of a profile, but she (I think it's a she) was a little skittish of my big camera. She came into the shelter with these wounds. A large section of her upper lip is gone and one of her eyes bulges. She's a nice dog looking for
You wouldn't necessarily know by the stunned looked on Isaiah's face, but he was having a fun being outside in his walker. I think he likes the feeling of independence "standing up" gives him. I have a feeling that once he masters moving around in it there will be no stopping him!
Abby got a bike for Christmas. Even though she hasn't quite figured out peddling yet, you can see she's having a blast!
Here's Philly holding two puppies who were recently rescuedFor those who may be interested, an article I wrote is published in Bahama Islands Info. Here's the link to copy and paste in your browser.

The kitten would be saying "adopt me, it's crowded in here and those dogs are really loud" if it could talk.
A casual family photo taken Christmas afternoon. This was Isaiah's first Christmas. His favorite part was the food, especially the candy cane Abby gave him. Abby also enjoyed the food and ate some of just about everything she saw. Unfortunately, she doesn't much like sitting for pictures these days... Oh well, she did have fun running around the yard before this shot.
It was a really nice day with my family. I am thankful for the roof over our heads and food on the table. A day job I enjoy, a fairly reliable car and so many other things. But most of all, I'm thankful for my family and friends. Love to you all.
Merry Christmas everyone! Last weekend Kamal and I found ourselves home alone, the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. So we decided to get out for a little while and walk around Port Lucaya, or Ports as my sons refer to it.
Here we are in front of Unexso's docks working our way back to the marketplace. Kamal, who generally doesn't like to have his picture taken (wonder where he gets that from?), was being a good sport and let me snap a couple. He's so handsome! |
