If you could drop your entire life off a cliff and watch it break into a million pieces, it would be a really good opportunity to rearrange those pieces in a more interesting way and get rid of the pieces that no longer fit.
Sometimes a person just needs to step back and take a break. So that’s what I’ve been doing: taking a step back from everything that I didn’t have to do. This meant letting most things slide, except my day job (which I need and actually like). I’d write that even if my boss wasn’t likely to read my post.
A lot of things I did, because I’ve always done them, stopped being fun. They felt like work – unpaid work. Life isn’t supposed to be all work: at least I don’t think my life is supposed to be all work.
So now I’m in pursuit of what I enjoy. Reading is at the top of that list. And painting my nails funky colors – I am loving the cobalt blue I painted them last night! What else? I’m not sure yet.
How about you? What do you do for fun?
